What verified means
A note is verified when a person has compared asset patterns, the Snap id, and install caveats with the sources in the table on the review date, then set last verified to that date. The date is 2026-09-02 for the current lock. Last verified is not a freshness badge for every GitHub star count. Stars, download counts, and the current tag come from GitHub at build. Prose that names a behavior (codec-copy cut, experimental smart cut, .llc project files, lossless crop versus lossy resize) has to match the README and FAQ on that same date.
Windows, macOS, and Linux are the mapped install paths. Release assets are 7z, dmg, AppImage, and tar.bz2. APPX and PKG sit on the tag as Store packaging and do not work for a manual download. Blockmap and latest yml files are updater noise.

Other review roundups are not sources. Author FAQ states WinGet and Homebrew are not maintained by him. Notes treat the missing WinGet id as a missing id, not as a command to invent. Homebrew exists as an unofficial cask; notes still print no brew line.

Release tags at build
File names, sizes, and the current tag are read from GitHub before a build. The stamp prints that tag. Body copy says "the current release" so a new tag does not leave a stale dotted number in a paragraph. Default Windows take is the x64 7z. Default macOS take is the matching dmg. Linux AppImage is primary. Snap stays supporting. A safe-fetch walk sits on download safely. The release chooser sits on releases. Repo layout and LICENSE sit on GitHub.
Store listings lag GitHub. Microsoft Store listing 9P30LSR4705L and Mac App Store listing id 1505323402 are official store paths the README badges. GitHub downloads stay free. Notes skip inventing a store price. Nightly builds on the author site are not the path these notes map.
How comparisons stay fair
Compare notes use the other vendor's own page, with no invented rank and no invented price. HandBrake is a re-encode transcoder. Shotcut is a cross-platform NLE. CapCut is a closed consumer editor. FFmpeg CLI is the engine LosslessCut wraps. Avidemux is a closer cousin that still often re-encodes for filters. Notes skip inventing a "best" title. Crop copy has to stay honest. README Features lists lossless crop and aspect ratio modification. The FAQ still groups crop, resize, and stretch with lossy re-encode and points at issue 372. Drafting and review
